Fast exact variable order affine projection algorithm

چکیده
Variable order affine projection algorithms have been recently presented to be used when not only the convergence speed of the algorithm has to be adjusted but also its computational cost and its final residual error. These kind of affine projection (AP) algorithms improve the standard AP algorithm performance at steady state by reducing the residual mean square error. Furthermore these algorithms optimize computational cost by dynamically adjusting their projection order to convergence speed requirements. The main cost of the standard AP algorithm is due to the matrix inversion that appears in the coefficient update equation. Most efforts to decrease the computational cost of these algorithms have focused on the optimization of this matrix inversion. This paper deals with optimization of the computational cost of variable order AP algorithms by recursive calculation of the inverse signal matrix. Thus, a fast exact variable order AP algorithm is proposed. Exact iterative expressions to calculate the inverse matrix when the algorithm projection order either increases or decreases are incorporated into Partially supported by TEC2009-13741, PROMETEO 2009/0013, GV/2010/027, ACOMP/2010/006 and UPV PAID-06-09. ∗e-mail: [email protected], Tel.: +34-96-3877007-88272, Fax: +34-96-3877309 Preprint submitted to Signal Processing December 13, 2011 a variable order AP algorithm leading to a reduced complexity implementation. The simulation results show the proposed algorithm performs similarly to the variable order AP algorithms and it has a lower computational complexity.

A fast exact filtering approach to a family of affine projection-type algorithms
The affine projection (AP)-type algorithms produce a good tradeoff between convergence speed and complexity. As the projection order increases, the convergence rate of the AP algorithm is improved at a relatively high complexity. Many efforts have been made to reduce the complexity. However, most of the efficient versions of the AP-type algorithms are based on the fast approximate filtering (FA...
متن کاملAn Affine Projection Algorithm with Variable Projection Order using the MSE Criterion
This paper proposes an affine projection algorithm (APA) with variable projection order using the mean-square error (MSE) criterion. The proposed algorithm determines the projection order at every iteration to use it in the update equation of the proposed APA. The MSE criterion is employed to decide the projection order reasonably. Moreover, this algorithm checks the steady-state condition to c...
متن کاملA block exact fast affine projection algorithm
This paper describes a block (affine) projection algorithm that has exactly the same convergence rate as the original sample-by-sample algorithm and smaller computational complexity than the fast affine projection algorithm. This is achieved by 1) introducing a correction term that compensates for the filter output difference between the sample-by-sample projection algorithm and the straightfor...
متن کاملModified Filtered-x Affine Projection Sign Algorithm for Active Control of Impulsive Noise
For active noise control problems, when noise sources are contaminated by impulsive noise, the classic FxLMS converges slowly or even diverges. In order to effectively control such impulsive noise sources, by minimizing the L1-norm of an error vector, a modified filteredx affine projection sign algorithm (MFxAPSA) has been proposed. An exact efficient implementation can greatly reduce its numbe...
متن کاملGradient-Limited Affine Projection Algorithm for Double-Talk-Robust and Fast-Converging Acoustic Echo Cancellation
We propose a gradient-limited affine projection algorithm (GL-APA), which can achieve fast and double-talk-robust convergence in acoustic echo cancellation. GL-APA is derived from the M-estimationbased nonlinear cost function extended for evaluating multiple error signals dealt with in the affine projection algorithm (APA). By considering the nonlinearity of the gradient, we carefully formulate...
